The Village of Stuart, Neb., recently completed an electric distribution system voltage switchover project, which is expected to result in a more efficient electric system with lower line losses, demand charges and less maintenance.
The project covered three days and involved working in sections to convert the Village’s 2400 delta system to a more efficient 4160 wye system. Personnel from the Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska helped to coordinate neighboring utility crews from Broken Bow, Pierce, West Point and Ord to assist the Village of Stuart on the project.
Without the assistance from nearby public utilities, the project would have taken weeks and power outages would have lasted longer for Village residents.
